Sangha for Clinicians

Creating a place to take refuge in the work of caring for others.

What is the Clinical Bodhisattva Sangha?

A monthly gathering for therapists and mental health clinicians who want a place to practice, reconnect, and be nourished by community

A monthly practice gathering for therapists and mental health clinicians in the DC/MD/VA area.

Our work asks us to regularly make contact with deep suffering. Consultation, supervision, and training are important forms of support, but we also need places to practice, reconnect, and receive the nourishment that helps us remain rooted, open, and present in this work.

This gathering is an opportunity to explore Buddhist teachings and contemplative practices as a way of meeting suffering and transforming our relationship to it. Together, we will cultivate refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha—while making room for whatever words, questions, and experiences resonate with each person.

No particular Buddhist background or established meditation practice is required. This is a space for curiosity, practice, connection, and mutual support.

What to expect

  • A regular, once a month, in-person gathering

  • Guided meditation and other contemplative practices

  • Exploration of Buddhist teachings relevant to clinical work

  • Time for reflection and conversation

  • A community of fellow clinicians practicing together

  • Tea and light snacks (feel free to bring something to share!)

This is not a consultation group, supervision group, or psychotherapy group. It is a space for practice, connection with ourselves and community.

Gathering details

When: Generally the fourth Sunday of each month, with occasional scheduling adjustments

The gathering is offered in the spirit of dāna, the Buddhist practice of generosity and mutual support.

I am especially interested in supporting organizations connected to environmental care and the interdependence of human and ecological well-being. The selected charity will be shared with the group.
