Trauma-Informed Yoga Group

An 8-Week Embodied Practice Series

This 8-week series offers a trauma-informed approach to yoga designed to support in developing a deeper connection to yourself and a more compassionate relationship with your body.

Unlike a traditional studio class, this space emphasizes choice, attunement, internal awareness and responsiveness to your body and mind’s needs. The intention is not performance, flexibility, or intensity — but cultivating safety, presence, and agency in your physical and emotional space.

This is not group therapy. It is a psychologically informed movement practice held in a steady and respectful container.

What Makes It Trauma-Informed

This series prioritizes:

  • Choice rather than correction

  • Invitation rather than demand

  • Internal awareness over external form

  • Predictable structure and steady pacing

  • Clear, consent-based language

You are always encouraged to move in ways that feel accessible and self-directed. You are always empowered to choose what honors your own body’s wisdom. There is no pressure to push beyond your capacity, and no expectation that your body should look a certain way.

The focus is not on doing more — but on listening more carefully to your own experience.

Slowing down is not always immediately soothing. For some, stillness or increased awareness can initially feel activating or unfamiliar. We approach this gently and with choice. Cultivating safety in the body, when it has previously felt unsafe, can often feel uncomfortable before it feels steady. Capacity is built gradually with care, not forced.

What a 75-Minute Session Includes

Each session weaves together:

  • Grounding and breath awareness

  • Accessible, choice-based movement

  • Opportunities to pause and notice internal experience

  • Closing rest and settling

  • Brief journaling for reflection and integration & optional community sharing

The journaling and brief sharing offer space to translate embodied awareness into language — supporting integration.

Across the series, we may explore themes such as cultivating stability, working skillfully with activation or shutdown, building tolerance for sensation, and practicing compassionate presence in the body.

The goal is not to fix what is broken, but to build trust in your capacity to notice, respond, and choose.
