Relational Consciousness-Raising Group for Women
An 8-Week Structured Community Group (ALL women welcome. Both cis and trans women)
This group draws from the feminist tradition of consciousness-raising — the practice of gathering in community to reflect on the relational patterns and power dynamics that quietly shape our lives.
Together, we explore how gendered expectations, emotional and cognitive labor, relational responsibility, and power show up in intimate partnerships, family systems, workplace, and in our relationships with other women. The intention is to increase awareness — because what becomes visible can begin to shift.
This is a structured, facilitated community group. It is not group therapy, though it may feel meaningful and personal.
What We Explore
Across eight weeks, we gently examine questions such as:
Who in the relationship brings up difficult topics — and how?
Who carries emotional labor and perspective-taking?
Who tracks responsibilities and “invisible” tasks?
Who apologizes, repairs, or adapts?
Whose needs and standards are prioritized?
Who feels responsible for harmony, happiness and the well being of the family?
We also turn toward something more subtle: how we have been shaped to relate to other women. To one another.
Many of us have internalized patterns of comparison, accommodation, silence, competition, or self-abandonment in female relationships. In this group, we reflect and observe on how these patterns live within us and how they may even show up in this space— so we may compassionately hold one another accountable and open the possibility of transforming these patterns with greater awareness and care.
The original curriculum was designed around dynamics common in heterosexual relationships, though the deeper themes of power, responsibility, attunement, and voice are relevant across relational contexts. You do not need to be partnered to participate. We also acknowledge that gender does not operate in isolation — race, culture, sexuality, class, and family background deeply shape relational experience. Women of all backgrounds are welcomed and valued in this space.
The Contemplative Element
In addition to structured discussion, we incorporate brief mindfulness practices to support:
Noticing embodied reactions to relational patterns
Staying present when insight feels uncomfortable
Cultivating self-compassion while taking responsibility
Moving from reactivity toward clarity
The goal is not only understanding — but practicing new ways of relating.
Who This Group is For
This group may resonate if you:
Feel confusion, resentment, or imbalance in your relationships
Long for language to describe relational dynamics
Are open to examining your own patterns alongside societal conditioning
Value both feminist reflection and contemplative awareness
Are willing to explore how you relate to other women — and how those patterns might shift
This group is grounded in feminist thought and invites openness to examining gendered socialization and power dynamics with curiosity and humility.
A Note on Scope
While personal reflection is welcome, this is not a psychotherapy group and is not intended for processing acute trauma. Participants are invited to share thoughtfully and with care for the collective container.
Structure & Investment
This is an 8-week virtual series with 90-minute weekly meetings in a small, closed cohort.
Because the group builds progressively and relational trust develops over time, participants are asked to commit to the full 8 weeks. Consistent attendance supports the integrity of the container and the growth of the group as a whole.
$60 per session billed weekly or $440 paid in full (save $40)
This is a non-therapy community group and is not eligible for insurance reimbursement.
The group is offered periodically based on interest. If you feel drawn to participate, you’re invited to express interest below. Once sufficient interest is gathered, enrollment details and start dates will be shared.
